Prep work befor the pump

by Skeyeu, Feb 11, 2008 01:53AM
I Have been thinking about getting on a insulin pump. But was wondering how do you get on one. Do you go see your endoconoligist and he puts you on one. Whats the prep work for it. One doc told me it take a person 6 months of prep work before you can get on one. What kind of prep work is he talking about??

I have never heard of 6 months of prep work for a pump. Some training, yes, but that should not take 6 months.

the prep work they are talking about involves qualifying for insurance coverage.  You need to show a diabetic need.  Oscillating BS and highs and lows recorded.  However not always.  I got my pump because my doc wrote a script and a letter.  I love mine and suggest going for it.
