Pain Days After Root Canal

I had a root canal done 4 days ago. The dentist filled it with temporary filling but it seemed like it was too high. I also feel a big crack in the back of my tooth after he did the root canal. I've been chewing on this tooth trying to get the temporary filling to wear down a little bit. Yesterday I was chewing on it and it really started hurting. Now I can't even bite down on this tooth and it really hurts.What could be causing this pain?
