How do you get Mycoplasma genitalium?

by confusedguy65, Feb 14, 2008 02:56PM
Hello, I hope this is the correct section. In a recent sperm test for infertility I was diagnosed as having Mycoplasma genitalium.  My docotor told me this is a STD and it can only be transmitted via sexual relations.
I searched the internet and the information is very confusing.

My issue is that both me and my wife were married "virgins". I was for sure and I suspect from first contact she was being truthful. So if this is a sexually transmiited disease then one of us had to fool around if Mycoplasma genitalium is only transmitted via STD. Is there any other way you can get this disease i.e. via anal sex etc.

Thanks,

This STD seems to pretty new, as you're right - there isn't much information available on it. So whether or not it can be transferred orally, anally, etc. seems to be open to debate, until the medical field takes a closer look at it. Your best bet may be to query your doctor again for more information. I hope someone with more info will respond to your post.
