Worried about symptoms - Sinus related or Brain tumour?

by Fairyloveheart, Feb 15, 2008 08:56AM
Hi There
Feeling very worried about my symptoms and wondering what looks most likely?  Have an appt with a neuro booked for later this month, but I am just spending day on day thinking about what it could be.

Initially in early Dec, I had a feeling of fulness in my right eye tear duct area, and this was on and off for  month, with some eye pain (Eyes tested - ok), then the facial pain started, behind my eyes, nose, bridge of nose, then ear ache, then forehead and then headaches intermittently in the front of the head.

Now I have developed a creeping sensation over the top right side of forehead and cheeks, a bit like a spider crawling across.  Sometimes if feels like it is cold within my face (If that makes sense)

In terms of congestion, this appears to vary - some days I am more congested and others, not.

I have also been sick and nauseous on a few occasions, but this appears to be as a result of coughing.  I had one incident of blurred vision about a month ago when I woke up.

If I get up in the middle of the night, I feel awful, it's very hard to explain, and similarly if I turn over, I seem to feel strange.

I also seem to feel a bit dizzy although, not so the room is spinning, just a little off balance...

The symptoms seem to worsen throughout the day and be worse in the evening...

Help

I keep thinking this is a brain tumour,

MRI brain scan with contrast, then you will know with certainty what I already know (that you don't have a tumor)

I know what it is like to be frustrated waiting to see a specialist. Two of my children have had serious illnesses and have had to wait 2 months for a GI Dr, 2 months for a Neurologist.  If you are very concerned, feel things are getting worse, and it's affecting your daily life I would go to the emergency room. The Neurologist on call for the ER at that time will have to see you. We eventually did this because we could not wait 2 months for an appt.

Usually if its a brain tumor, you'll gait will be affected.  Plus the pain is more like a fleeting pain and it should not affect your face with the symptoms you have posted.

So it is currently 1:55 AM and I can't sleep, this has been happening to me for the last few nights. Two years ago I had a cancer scare, when it turned out it wasn't cancer in the end I developed severe cases of hypochondria, and as a result my head would start hurting occasionally in the months that followed. 2 years have passed and now the pain is almost unbearable, My symptoms usually include either one or both temples sore, tingling sensations in my face, people have suggested to me that I have general anxiety disorder, which I do and I take zoloft for it  but it doesen't seem to help anymore. I am kinda too afraid to go see a doctor since I'm afraid it might be a tumor, and given how I almost went crazy last time with worry, I don't think I could take it this time. Anyone else experience similar symptoms??

If you are concerned go to an emergency Dr even as sinus infection can effect the brain.

Good Luck
