Swelling in Foot

I have family history of gout-I am 59 and beginning to suffer from severe knee swelling and pain. Recently I noticed pain in my right foot. There is a growing lump between the 4th and little toe, getting hard to put my shoes on, some pain in walking. I can feel a pea-size hard swelling there, and was wondering if this may have something to do with gout or poor circulation? It is getting worse every day and so is the knee pain. I am concerned the foot pain may be a sign of something more serious? My life is also extremely stressful but there is not much I can do about that.
