I know you can do this - you've made it to day 5. I will be thinking of you and will send up a prayer for you and all of the other posters here on this board. I will check back later if you just need someone to talk to!

Now is the time to put down any attempt to do it all on your own, and *reach out* to anyone you can. Go to a 12 meeting, go to see a therapist, write to us here all you want to, tell a friend you trust. They key is to avoid isolation. Anytime you stay in community with other addicts you will have all the strength of all of us to add to your own desire to get clean.
I strongly recommend seeing a therapist. It has helped me enormously, and I am actually about to get back into therapy to deal with marital problem. I also am a therapist myself, so of course I believe in it, but it can really help you to stay focused on the issues that were behind the addiction to begin with.
I just also want to say that you have come a long way in a very short time. Your first time on this forum was a post asking for online sources of meds, and now suddenly here you are in day 5 of detox. Be very proud of yourself! We are all pulling for you.
One piece of advice...take the supplements! Your brain needs extra nutritional help to get back to normal. The L-Tyrosine will help the dopamine and norepinephrine start to function normally again, which gets your natural endorphin production begining again. The 5 htp and SAMe will help boost seratonin levels and take care of the depression. The SAMe is also a powerful liver detoxifyer. Vitamin C helps a lot, Vitamin bcompolex is important for normal neurotransmitter function. And water. Lots and lots of water. You will feel lethargy for a week or two now, but if you can get through that you will be completely free.
I'll get off my soap box now, but am so happy that you are almost through it all.

WW
That said, the depression really can get to you. Cry and let it out. Take the recipe, especially the L-tyrosone, if you aren't already. That turned my mental state around 100 percent. Hang in there and accept any help that is offered. I swear that in another few weeks you will feel wonderful, and each day from here will get easier. Good luck and we'll be pulling for you. tracy
PS/ I am not cleanman's roommate...... :)
The recipe is:
L-Tyrosine 8 500mg capsules, on an empty stomach (my edit here..this was too much for me, gave me a bad stomach ache and made me feel jittery, but some folks need this much. Test what works for you)
B-complex
Hot baths to help with muscle aches
Valium to help with sleep, but be careful to not take it too long or you will get addicted to it.
Multimineral tablet that includes zinc, magnesium, and manganese, as well as calcium.
I added 5 htp and SAM-e, that help with the depression quite a bit.
That's it in a nut shell. I have the whole version Thomas wrote but it is on my other computer. It is reprinted in a thread below though, I'm pretty sure.
good luck!

WW

Congrats on making it this far Kell!!! way to go. Keep doing it, one day at a time as they say. :-)
Samar, the 5htp stands for 5 hydroxytryptophan. It is an amino acid, and the direct precusor for seratonin production in the body. Seratonin is the neurotransmitter responsible for mood. Too low and you get depressed. Too high and you get manic. Just right and you feel good. It is made from the seed of the graphonia plant and is a natural substand.
I'm not sure what SAMe stands for, but if you type it into a search engine you'll find tons of scienctific articles about it. I do know it is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, helps with neurotransmitter production, detoxifies the liver, and helps with joint pain. It has been a miracle for. The cool thing is it has as strong an antidepressant effect as prozac did for me but none of the sexual side effects. The uncool thing is it is damned expensive.
Thanks for the kind comments. I call myself Withchywoman because I am a Witch. Witchraft is a life affirming religion that centers on the Divine being found right here and now, in nature. It is polytheistic, believing in many Gods and Goddesses. It's main focus tends to be healing, though there are many differnt forms of it. It is a compassionate, caring religion that has been the focus of my life for over 20 years.

Now go read your Bible! Try getting a copy of the NIV King James-- The words of Christ are highlighted in RED. You will be amazed a what JESUS actually taught and professed, as compared with what you thought you knew from Sunday school, and your Pastor or Minister's sermons.
Peace be with you,

Aea, I practice love, healing, and compassion. I'll let you read more about it on the web, just do a search on Wicca or go to witchvox.com to find out what we *really* are about.
I am happy with my religion and my spirituality, and hope you are happy with yours. I truly believe that there is more than just one true way and hope everyone finds what is right for them.
Love and compassion are the words that unite all the religions of the world, not judgement and condemnation.
in peace and love,
WW
