fast pulse driving me NUTS

Hi can you please help me, I have been having a racing pulse almost every night,  often as I just start to doze off my pulse begins to race and wakes me up to a feeling of impending doom.  I even sometimes wake up hours after falling asleep to a very rapid pulse,   but it always settles back down to normal within a few minutes of waking up and catching my breath.   I have also noted that recently I am more aware of my heart beating,  ie, I feel my chest fluttering and it's driving me NUTS,  can  you please tell me what to do?  My doctor said I could take a beta blocker but  when it's not racing my pulse already is on the low side (50's to 60's) and bp is 100/60 often.   I had a heart monitor on and it caught my pulse in my sleep being fast.   PLease help I don't know what to do, my doctor said this doesn't seem like something that can be ablated,  what can i DO?

Over the last year my resting heart rate has increased to 87bpm on avg.  I had an echo, everything was normal and no reason given for the increased heart rate.  However, Cardiologist noted my aortic root was mildly dialted at 4.2cm.  He said it was due to my height (6'4 200lbs)...Could this be the case is mildly dialted the same as an anuerysm?  I am healthy, non-smoker?

Check out your heart issues with doctors, but also look seriously into Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which is very common.  GAD produced exactly the symptoms you describe in myself, and fortunatey it is a treatable and not life-threatening condition.

You need a monitor to see what the specific tachycardia is. A Holter or an event monitor will suffice. But your symptoms are typical of panic attacks, with the feeling of impending doom. You should also have an echocardiogram to see what your heart function and atrial sizes are prior to any planned ablation procedures. You can take a beta blocker, which will slow down the tachycardia without much effect on your pulse at rest.

I had a sleep study which also ruled out sleep apnea but was picking up my fast pulse.
