Hello - New Member

Wow, I've learned there are a lot of people out there going through the same thing I am.  It's nice to know I am not the only one who feels like a Macy's Thanksgiving balloon because on the medicine.  I am just coming to terms with this whole disease.  I learned I have autoimmune hepatitis in June of 2007...and it's been a nightmear since.  The medicines are working but the side effects are wicked.  My family is a huge support system, however I feel they can not understand how I am feeling.  So that is why I am here.  Anyone care to say hello, please do.

Hello, I'm glad you are here. I haven't posted here very often, but I do check in to see if I can help someone occasionally. If you would like to talk about your illness alittle more please feel free to. Everyone is very friendly and so helpful. You came to the right place. I usually check in more in the pm so I may not be here when you post something but I will catch up with you. Again "Welcome".  Kande

Hi Erica,
I also have autoimmune hepatitis & was diagnosed in 2002.  The meds are first were tremedous & packed about 30-40 lbs on me.  Now I am back down to normal size because they do cut bk on the prednisone ( I am now on 5 mg) in addition to the imuran of 50 mgs.  The gastric side effects aren't so bad any longer.  I really don't remember too much in the way of side effects myself other then the terrible heartburn.  What kind of side effects are you experiencing?
