Repeat Ectopic or just freaking out??

by tagirma, Feb 18, 2008 10:13PM
In July of 2006, I became pregnant after trying for a good amount of time.  Unfortunately, I miscarried; can't begin to explain how devastating that was.  I got pregnant again inNovemeber 2006 and was able to carry my baby until fullterm (male, 8lbs 15 ozs, 08/02/2007, via c-section).  When he was twelve weeks old, I found out that I was six weeks pregnant. A couple days after taking the test, I began to have spotting and very minor pain.  I had been through one miscarriage so naturally thought that I was headed down that course. Visits to the doctor confirmed that I had an ectopic pregnancy, believed to be in my right tube.  I was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery to remove the pregnancy.  One week later, I began having dull pain on my left side that worsened and radiated to my shoulder and some bleeding.  When back to the ER and learned that HCG levels were still rising -- even though we thought that the ectopic had been removed.  I was hosptialized and had blood work done several times a day.  Five days later pathology report returned that what the surgeon (he was an excellent one for real) did not remove an ectopic pregnancy but did remove a blood clot on my left tube (by laparscopic).  The horomone continued to rise but not normally.  The pregnancy was never found.  I wound up taking a shot of metotrexate that took about a month to dissolve the pregnancy.  Ok up to where I am at this point . .  I have been taking birth control pills for the last two months to avoid pregnancy so that I could have an HSG conducted.  I have not missed any pills but there where a couple of days that I took the pill later than I normally did.  I was later placed on Macrobid for an UTI.  I was told that theis would not effect the potentency of the pill by the doctor and the pharmacist.  I only had sex one time with my husband.  I am two days late -- never late.  And I should not be late when taking the pill, right?  I took one of the early pregnancy tests and it was negative.  I took another yesterday afternoon (the day that I am supposed to start )-- negative.  I have been having small twinges of pain in my left side.  Nothing major.  But I am wonder what to do???  If this is an ectopic pregnancy, I need to get it taken care of.  If not and I am pregnant then I would like to give it a shot a making it.  If I am not pregnant then where the heck is my period that these wonder birth control pills were supposed to regulate?  Help!

I had an ectopic last year and I know how freaked out you can get after that kind of experience..
But I really think this time you should be ok.
Why don't you get a blood HCG test so when it will come back negative you will be sure its not an ectopic.
You know sometimed our mind can make strange tricks!!
Good luck!

I don't believe you are pregnant again. I don't know your pills but if they contain high progesterone they may late your periode a little bit.

Please take a blood test to confirm you are not pregnant.

Good luck!
