Neuropathy

I am 2 chemos away from finishing my round of six and have developed peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet.  I am on 300mg Neurontin 3 x a day and it still seems to be getting worse. The pain keeps me from walking long distances and I cannot hang my hands down; I have to keep my elbows bent.  I have also tried acupuncture.  I use warmth to alleviate the pain but it is only a temporary relief.  Any ideas or experiences?

Thanks so much for the suggestions!  I've started the B12 and will definitely ask my onc about the Lyrica and the Nerve Support Formula.  I am presently taking 2 antidepressants and don't wnat ot change over to Cymbalta right now because they work so well.  The increased dose of Neurontin makes me very drowsy and is interfering with my work life...even though I've only been able to go back to work for 25 hours a week.  I knew I could count on the forum to help!

I have diabetic neuropathy and so the chemo made me a disaster.  BUT after a couple of months on cymbalta its back where it originally was.   Lyrica also works well and they both seem to work better than neurontin.. but who knows... B12 also does work well and I used it in combination with acupuncture...

thinK positve thoughts on how good the chemo is doing for your cancer and then worry about the neuropathy... it will get better.

I have found Vitamin B12 and Coq10 to be a great help with my feet and legs, it has also helped with my energy levels.

I hope it helps you too :)

Hi,
I also got nueropathy from chemo, though not nearly as bad as yours.  I tried glutamine, vibrators, ice, heat, massage, acupuncture.  A little bit of help.  Then, one of my doctors suggested a supplement called Nerve Support Formula, made by WSN.  I gave it a try.  As long as I take it every day, my neuropathy  is completely gone.  But if I forget to take it one day, I can't feel my arms from my hands to my elbows the next morning.  I'm pretty sold on it.  Please ask your doctor and research it on the web.
Best of luck to you!
