Had a "funny" happen yesterday

by spastic, Feb 22, 2008 06:07AM
I was walking down the ramp in the parking garage and my right leg did its not finding the ground thing and I almost fell down but a nice man grabbed me before I smacked the pavement. He asked me when if I was getting help for my gait disorder.

I was taken back for a moment and asked him how he knew, he was a neurologist! A very nice man, we talked for a few minutes and I got his office number and he said to call and get an appointment. He could see something was wrong.  I thought all the good neuros were gone but maybe there is hope?

Just thought I would share a funny with all of you.

Lots of Hugs

Yes I did get an appt.  I already had one scheduled on the 10th but I think I will go to both just to see what they say...The one I tripped on yesterday specializes in walking/balance the gait disorders so I am praying that he will help me walk normal again.

Love to All

Wow..well since I don't believe in coincidences, I think that guy was there for a reason, and you nearly went splat right then for a reason.
Excellent!

Wow! Did he have a sign on his chest "I AM A NEUROLOGIST" How wonderful for you. God's Angels are out there, we just have to be able to recognize one when we fall over on them! You go girl........when is your appt? Soon I hope! This might be the one!      Maggie

Isn't it wonderful?  But it was (spastic) Ada who fell upon good fortune, not I.  It gets confusing in these long threads...

I'm glad you made the appointment, Ada!  Keep the other one, too, if your insurance will cover it.

I believe in Serendipity!

One is on the 10th and the other is 13th. At this point I don't really care if my insurance will cover it. I believe the one I fell into is the one who will help me the most but I will give the first one a try. I am so curious as to what they will say and what the differences will be.

Lots of Love

Fate has intervened--I'm a true believer!  Please keep us posted on what your doctors say on the 10th and 13th.

For the rest of the people in Limbo.  Maybe we should start stalking Neurologists in parking garages.  Just happen to be limping along and fall, just within their sight...lolI would be like the old "slip and fall" scam in stores.  I wonder if the security might wonder about all of these people walking up and down the ramps....work it...Work it!!

We could always claim Cog and Fog and say we parked there some weeks back and are still looking for our cars.

Pro-active by stealth.  A new way to find a compassionate doctor.  Spazzy Ada, Wanna write it up?

Whaddyathink?

Q  ;)

I agree-we could start a new forum, "How and where to stalk neuros".  I have to laugh at myself because I know I looked like a drunk staggering about. lol. This could be the theme song:

"Oh Where, Oh Where have the good Neuro's gone?
We have a lot of people in Limbo-land who need a hand
and we dont want the usual a**es who are so crass.
But one who will treat us like a lucky lass

I will have to work on it some more, the words are failing me now.

Lots of Hugs,

I like our new song.  It's got a good beat, and it's easy to dance to!  (If we could still dance)

I'll be humming it all day....

I like the idea of how to find a doc.  Very creative you were!  I can't wait to hear how wonderful the appointment goes....

To: Hi Everyone
I hope to find one of these wonderful neuros soon.
Had a grrrrrrrrrr moment last week.  I called my Neuro's office (still investigated for MS) and complained about a new symptom.  My left side , arm leg and back of left shoulder went into a big spasm and wouldn't let go.  I was walking with a limp and couldnt' hold anything in the left hand.
His response?  I am not sure what that is.... call your GP and if he thinks it is necessary to see me let him make that call.!!!!!

GRRRR.  Today my left foot went cold, like it was wet.  I took my shoes off to check.  Bone dry.  No need calling the Neuro again.. Bet he thinks I am a nutcase!

Quix, what is your take on this.  Does anyone have these symptoms?

Take care.

That is wonderful, jump on the chance it may be a great help to have different opinions. I wish I had that chance considering my leg have been acting up for more than a month and is acting up really bad and i did almost fall face first into a store being a brick building just lost my footing and couldn't get the legs to work right and a guy that came out of the store asked me if I had too much to drink?! I wish that was just the case   :P

Hi Guys! I'm sorry your going through all of this. Neuros can be so egotistical that you would like nothing better than bopping them in the head.  They should never, ever dismiss a person when they are in distress.
P-I know exactly how you feel when people think you have been drinking, normal people don't get it when you have a gait disorder, vertigo, etc. I have been accused a number of times, I even had a dr tell me I am taking too much
