Wrist tingles after tendinitis

by Marb130, Feb 22, 2008 09:49AM
Several months ago, I suffered from pain in my wrist. After an ultrasound it was diagnosed as DeQuervain tendinitis. I was given anti-inflammatory meds and gave my wrist some time off. After a few weeks, the pain went away and after another few weeks of rest I began to resume my normal routine. This was about 4 months ago now, give or take.

Since about a week or so, I've been noticing a strange kind of tenderness in my wrist in roughly the same area where the pain was before. It doesn't hurt, but when I touch it (what I assume is the tendon or the nerves leading up to it?), it tingles in a somewhat painful way. I don't feel like I've lost any strength, and so far it only seems to occur then I touch it.

I've been using a computer for about 20 years now (I'm 23), and I practice a japanese sword martial art. Neither of those activities are very beneficial for the wrist, I guess, but I've never experienced any pain or discomfort during those particular activities.

I also have a mild scoliosis which occasionally results in lower back pain.

So basically, I'm just wondering if this is likely to be the result of tendinitis? Is it common? Am I simply relapsing? Or could something be wrong with the nerves in my wrist? I will obviously seeing  a doctor about this again, but I quite like having an extra opinion or two.

Thanks for any answers!
