do you think i have depression?

Well im 17 and some months and im not feeling very good lately.Nothing bad has happened to me, the only thing is that i started self-harming, but thats not the point, i just have lost interest in almost everything.I don't wanna go out with friends and i only do because im afraid of rejection.Im sad a lot, but not all the time.There are times that im so angry and others that im numb and don't have any emotions.Well my moods change a lot.I can be angry one minute and the next im not.They don't last for long, only sadness that it can last a few days and numbness the same.Also i have suicidal thoughts, i believe im guilty about everything and that im worthless.All i cause people is sadness and pain.The only reason i haven't killed myself is because im so guilty to die and i think about what other people will say.

I have had hyperthyroidism for 2 years, but 2 months ago i had a surgery to remove it.do you think it has something to do??do you think i have depression?

yea your definately depressed if your cutting and thats serious you really need to see a therapist.

i have a therapist and yesterday i had my first appointment with a psychiatrist.But he hasn't diagnosed me and i don't think he will.

Is this by any chance the same girl that wants an eating disorder? Hunny listen, you need to stop watching so much t.v and go outside, read a book, call some friends up, go to school. Something! leave this website to people that really need medical attention.

I think you are depressed because I have been depressed before and I understand the whole numb feeling.  You really dont care about yourself, others, etc.  You dont even care if you get hurt.  I never went to a psychiatrist because I figured no one could help and I figured why pay someone to help me b/c they really dont care they just want money.  The best thing you can do is go be with people that make you happy and laugh.  I trully honestly thought no one cared about me, b/c no one called, or ever sent me messages, or did anything to show any interest that they cared about me.  Write down how you feel when you get sad or you get emotional.  Then keep it for several days.  Reread it and find out what made you feel that way.  Talk to people you trust and tell them how you feel and why you feel the way you do.  Dont worry what they think b/c if they really care they will help you and talk to you.  Listen to music that makes you happy and puts you into a good mood. (Dashboard Confessionals in my case)  I was at the point where I planned out suicide then really thought why would I do this?  Would it fix anything? It really would just make things harder.  Do something that you are interested in like music for me.  Playing guitar and drums got me out of depression and helped me to meet new people.  Good luck and hope this helps, I promise things get better and Praying also helps!

You need to find out what makes you happy, its not magic and I wish it were.  You obviously have been happy before to know what it is right?  Everything has a counter balance to it. Example; hungry - full, tired - awake.  Your emotions are the same.  If you can experience one then you can experience the other.  But YOU need to do what makes YOU happy.  Dont try to satisfy others.  Do what you enjoy doing.  I know where you are at its really hard to see that.  One thing that I love to do is to just do a random act of kindness to help someone.  Or help people with things I have experienced that they have problems with.  That makes me happy and someone else happy.  Maybe you should try that, and see what type of reaction the other person gets.  It will make you feel good about yourself.

Irene, please please I BEG U .. DON'T EVER EVER kill urself.
I'm 16 and I had suicidal thoughts due to my anxiety disorder and yes maybe I'm depressed too.. REMEMBER : THIS IS JUST A MIND GAME.
WE CAN AND ABSOLUTELY WILL BE ABLE TO RECOVER AND BE NORMAL.
Be strong..I am a religious person and I don't like the idea of suiciding
