i have been on 1 tab 300 mg of lithium at night for 3 months now and i have noticed that i'm not flying off the handle as much.  all of a sudden my doctor wants me to take depakote at night.  last night i took a 125 mg sprinkle with my dinner
and by bedtime it felt like i had been given speed.  i could not go to sleep and when i finally dozed off i woke up three times and felt wired.

my doctor told me that it is used to calm people down. well it was the opposite for me.  will this effect go away?  i cant afford to be this tired during the day, i have a very important job.

I didn't like Depakote. You need to contact your dr and tell him what is going on and that you want OFF of the depakote. Be assertive. I find that the drs always feel they are right, but if you are having problems you need to let them know. Take Care and Good Luck.
