major depression

I have been going up on effexor XR gradually.  I am now on 300mg.  The doctor wants to add 75mg of wellbutrin because I still feel depressed.  I also do not sleep but 3-4 hours at night.  I have not gone on the wellbutrin yet.  I am a lightweight to meds,. I want to know if this combination will help with some paranoia, like going out in public.  I hope it helps. What do you think.

if i were you i would get taken off the effexor and be put on something else...wellbutrin alone helps a lot i was on the highest dose of that and it did help..being on two medications may make you very tired through out the day and its not always the best thing

I was on effexor along with wellbutrin in the past and it
worked wonders for me.  Everyone is different so you
could give it a try for awhile to see if it helps and if not
just drop the wellbutrin.  I hope you feel better soon.

I was on effexorXR, 150mg, and finally after months did well. To save money, doctor switched to generic venlafaxine and not an extended release either, and i plummeted. So I am going back to effexorXR. Beware of generics, the drug companies are pretty much on a honor system, and the generics often don't work as well as name brand. I'm still learning about medications, and reading up on them online, like www.mayoclinic.com that has a drug section, is helpful.  Hope you find the right medication soon.
