ulcers in the mouth

by makiza, Feb 23, 2008 09:39PM
when you get the ulcers in the mouth is that when the celiacs is flaring?  i was diagnosed a year ago and am having a hard time eating.  i have never had to really look at labels because i always knew what to eat.  Celiacs has thrown me for a loop in my life.  My vitamins make me sick and I am looking into getting Vit 12 shots.  I started getting the ulcers in my mouth and just thought it had to do with my teeth at the time.    But I have noticed that when I am really sick from eating the wrong foods that is when my mouth breaks out.

Gluten is also in vitamins and prescription drugs.  I would recommend going to your local health food store and purchasing gluten/dairy free vitamins.  I bought my first bottle Satuday and so far so good.  ALso know that there is a good chance that you are also lacose intollerant which means all dairy is no longer your friend.  To be sure get your blood tested.

Stay in touch with me...I too am just now figuring out what I can and cant eat...maybe we can exchange food suggestions.

We buy the gummy bear vitamins from Kroger (a big bottle, which is cheap, about $6 +, and they taste really good) for my son and we all also take them (two a day). They are gluten-free, dairy-free, red-dye free, no eggs, no peanuts, no artificial colors -flavors-or preservatives, no tree nuts, and no soy. (And that just about covers all of our allergies.) I even take two a day for myself.
One thing you need to know is there is Gluten in Tylenol. So, when you are sick, don't take Tylenol. (My kids have to use the liquid Dye-Free Motrin. (Adults can also take this.)
There is gluten in many things like toothpaste, vanilla extract and other extracts (due to the grain alcohol). You need to really read those labels and find hidden sources of Gluten as well. Modified corn starch is a big one.; it contains Gluten. Soy and Worchestershire Sauce also contain gluten.

agirlnamedsuess said modified corn starch has gluten.  I don't know what she is referring to by modified corn starch.  I use cornstarch I get
at my grocery store.  Use it in all my muffins, biscuits, gravy, etc.  I know there is no gluten in it.
agirlnamedsuess is you see my msg. please let me know what you are referring to by modified corn starch.  Thanks.
