I chart both. You can either check CM internally or externally. I usually check internally, since it's easier to see what the consistency is and since I'm checking my CP anyway :-) I usually record either creamy, wet or EWCM. Some women get sticky CM, but mine is usually always creamy after O.
As for CP, It's going to be low and firm right after AF and between ovulationLh urine test (home test) Mittelschmerz and your next AF. As ovulationLh urine test (home test) Mittelschmerz approaches, however, it will go higher and become more soft. Some women can also detect whether it's open or closed, but I can't really tell the difference, so I only do high/low and firm/soft.

Also, it's easier to reach your cervix when you squat, as opposed to standing up.
