Dandruff for 3 year old boy

hi,
My son is 34 months old and will turn 3 in May 2008. He has dandruff on his head and he is having a lot of itching sensation. Daily he is scratching his head at the same place and when i looked at it, under the hair, it is like a white oval shape with lot of dandruff on that white place and he is scratching his head only at that place. When he scratches, white flakes(smaller in size) come out on the hair.
I don't know what can i do for this issue. Please advise.
