Neuropathy???

I was diagnosed in June of 2007 and have had pretty good BGLs since changing my diet. My question is, these little shocks in my figers and toes and hips, are they normal? I haven't had a 200 day or night since November last year and don't get really bad lows either but these things are driving me nuttier. My dr says it's nothing to worry about, just a little neuropathy. Is that a real diagnosis?

Hi,
It is possible that you have ongoing neuropathy from the prior damage done by high blood sugars. The best way to diagnose neuropathy is by a nerve conduction test, usually done by a neurologist. An alternative, if you and your doctor chose to go this path, is to assume this is the cause and have a trial of one of the medications approved for treating neuropathy to see if it improves. Definitely discuss those options with your doc.

i dont know if i have diabetes or not but i get these stabbing sharp pains on the side of my right foot on the metatarsal of my big toe. what is that? could it be related to some form of diabetes?
