facial pain after root canal

by Jodie25, Feb 27, 2008 04:52PM
I had severe pain in tooth #14.  It had a crown on it.  In addition, I had pain in the lower floor of my sinus.  A CT scan confirmed a slight thickening of the sinus wall.  I had a root canal performed, however, the floor of the sinus is still painful.  I experience twinges of pain in my face from that area.  The endodontist is going to redo the root canal.  Is there anything else that could be wrong?  He seems to think there is a pocket of infection still there.  I had the root canal first done at the beginning of July last year and I am still experiencing problems.  I'm sick of this and want to find out what is wrong before something bad happens.  Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I would permit the endodontist to re-treat the tooth and see if your symptoms resolve.  You may also want a second opinion from someone who can review your radiographs and perform a clinical examination.  I would suggest a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon or different Endodontist.
