Diabetic with gangrene infected foot

by smilez21, Feb 27, 2008 05:14PM
My dad is in his 50's.  Last April he suffered a stroke. He has had diabetes since i can remember. Im worried because his right foot is infected with gangrene.  He goes to the doctor weekly for checkups and improvement or what not.  Recently they cut open a two inch slash and took out the infected tissue.  When i saw his foot yesterday i can see the inside.  It smells, which is a symptom i guess you would call it from gangrene.  He says the doctors want to stitch it up. but since he is diabetic will it heal correctly? what can be done to make his foot better? is there any hope????? or will it soon have to be amputated???? i have been looking online about gangrene and diabetes but i would like to hear something from a doctor...... please help- it breaks my heart to see him suffer........
p.s.
he also has an ulcer on the top/ underside bottom of his foot....... will that ever heal or go away?????

Hi,
It is quite difficult for healing to occur in people with diabetes once gangrene has occurred. I cannot say specifically about your Dad's situation because I do not know the extent etc of the wounds, but it sounds serious based on your description. Ultimately the surgeons are the ones who make this decision regarding if the leg/foot is viable and will likely heal or need to be amputated, so please stay in good contact with the surgical team. Several factors will play into whether or not this will heal(as well as the other wound you mentioned) including how well your Dad's sugars are controlled now, how much damage has been done, if there is active infection there and the extent of good blood flow to those areas.
Speak at length with the surgeons to get their honest opinion, and what is ultimately the best for your Dad's health in the long run. I know this is a tough situation--ask lots of questions and be as supportive as you can.
Take care.

Hi,

I read about the occurrence of gangrene on your dad's foot.  This is surely a difficult situation but there is a way to break free from it.

My father used to face the same problem.  He is a diabetic and also suffers from eczema.  The eczema would occur and soon be swollen with pus and we would rush to the hospital for treatment.  This happened every 4-5 months and doctors said it was going to remain this way as it is impossible to treat eczema.

I researched online and found that RAISING IMMUNITY LEVELS  works very well.  Also, reducing the FREE RADICAL COUNT in the blood makes a big difference.  You will find a lot of related research on Wikipedia and on University Websites (usually US based medicine and biology research universities).  Post research, I tried various nutrition based treatments, and found the treatment in the following combination:

1.  Nutrilite Bio C - 2 tablets / day (1 morning and 1 evening)
2.  Nutrilite Parseleneum E - 2 tablets / day (1 morning and 1 evening)
3.  Nutrilite Protein Powder - 10 gms per day with water/milk
4.  Nutrilite Salmon Omega 3 - 2 tablets / day (1 morning and 1 evening)

This dosage may be reduced after 2 months to 1 tablet per day after the results have stabilized.

Nutrilite is a brand available through Amway and I had purchased from a distributor.  As per my research, it is the best supplement currently available and has maximum results from all my other trials.  As these are supplements made out of plants, it is not required to consult a Dr. before taking them.  Also, most allopathic doctors are not very well informed on nutrition based treatments.  This I am saying from personal opinion as my family doctor does not support supplementation to cure disorders, but I am glad I based my trust in latest research being conducted and available online.  There are a few doctors who are recommending this though, there is growing awareness of the same.

But trust me, it will work.  My dad has been cured of gangrene danger for over 3 years, after 2 years of repeat occurrences.  You'll see the results in a week's time.  You can write to me for any more details on the same.

Hallo.  Where can we buy those supplements.  Are they available in the Phillippines?  If not, then where can we possibly buy those?
