Hurts to bite on top back tooth

I had a rootcanal and a crown about a year ago on my top back molar. now all of a sudden its sore to bite on this tooth. it started 2 days ago. it hurts to push on it with a finger. any ideas?

Dear billmik:
       If there has been no problem ever since root canal treatment and restoration, you need to see your dentist to rule out root fracture, periapical pathology, and periodontal status. However, vertical root fracture may not be detected in the early stage.Good luck
