Please i need some help.
My hubby had major bowel resection in august 07 for adenocarcinoma has iliostomy bag.
Our ploblem is he is still in severe pain in back passage blood in mucus from back passage and the doctors just say .It will take time.
How long should he be in pain, he cant sit or bend or even do minor lifting.
He had radiotherapy prior to surgery and lost 18kgs while in hospital due to many complications.
They just keep giving him strong pain meds and no other answers.
We are sick of all this and need help

Thanks

Hi Gail,

Normally, if your husband's bowel resection was done as far back as August 2007 (seven months ago), the operative wound should have resolved and the pain should presently be at a minimum.  If he is still experiencing considerable pain, I think it should be investigated more thoroughly, because it can be a sign of cancer recurrence or progression.  If your doctors are reluctant to investigate the cause of the pain, I think you should seek a second opinion with another specialist.
