This is possible if the embolism occurs along the periphery. Embolism along centralCentral sleep apnea vessels would produce larger areas that would not be mistaken as a nodule because of its characteristic pattern.

Of course, different CT scans would also have different abilities to resolve the details, and if the scan was done with contrast or not also adds to its ability to discern.
