TPO & hyperparathyroidism & hypercalcemia

by nenjbn, Feb 29, 2008 08:00AM
I've been feeling bad for a while, and my doc has run tests to see what is going on.  I've had mild hypercalcemia for the past 4-5 months (10.4, 10.3, 10.5, 10.3) and PTH seems inappropriately normal (37).  So I'm trying to get in with an endo.

Yesterday, my doc called with more blood test results.  My TSH, T3, & T4 are all in the normal range, but my TPOab is elevated.

Any idea what this could mean?  Is it possible to have a thyroid and parathyroid problem at the same time?  Could it all be related to one or the other?

Thanks.

Hi! Do not wait-it can be dangerous. 37 is not normal for calcium in the 10's! I'm having MIRP for parathyroid next week. BUT you need someone who KNOWS what they are doing! Pudiel

I did (see my profile).  But all during my ordeal, my thyroid blood work was fine.  I can remember the parathyroid blood work numbers not making any sense to anyone either.  Sometimes I think the problem or growth in one was pushing against the other and causing problems.  I can't theorize on which came first though.

Hope it all gets resolved.  Good luck.

Purdie - Good luck to you too!  You'll be in my thoughts.
