L5-S1 herniation and urinary incontinence

by bmtjm, Feb 29, 2008 10:41PM
My 37 year old husband was injured at work when a trech collapsed and buried him chest high.  This was two years ago and he has left femoral nerve damage with quad atrophy, so he can not walk properly.  He wears a leg brace.  He also has L5-S1 disc herniation per MRI.  He has frequent urinary incontince.  We are being told the MRI does not suggest that the incontince would be related because they are not sure there is spinal cord compression.  How could this be diagnosed and once diagnosed, if there is compression, what is the treatment?

It is a common misconception that urinary incontince stems always from the pressure of a slipped disc or a spinal cord compression.  This is misleading, the cause of urinary incontince is also inflammation of soft tissue stimulating urinary nerves, causing the urinary incontince.normally it happen in L1/L2 region.

Deep and intensive acupuncture can help!(not general acupuncture)

Take care!
