It is difficult to say what this could be. The best way out would be to get oneself examined by your doctor. Since your girlfriend had cervical cancer, and there is a known association between genital warts and cancer, I would emphasize that it is an urgent condition and the sooner you go to see a doctor, the better.
In the meantime, you should try and abstain from sexual intercourse and keep the area hygienic.
