I'm going to Japan, do I need to get a vaccination for Japanese pneumonia? What other vaccinations do I need for Japan, and is TB an issue? Thanks,

Dear Pam:

Just a clarification: there is no vaccination for "Japanese pneumonia" -- but there is a vaccination for Japanese Encephalitis.

A couple questions regarding your trip before I answer your question regarding vaccinations.
1. Where will you be going?
2. For how long?
3. What will you be doing?
4. What kind of accommodations will you have?
5. Are you traveling alone, with children, etc?
6. Do you have any medical problems that you currently see a physician regularly for? or do you take any medications every or most days?
