6 weeks 3 days preg and no heart beat!!!

by whitlack, Mar 03, 2008 05:51PM
I am a nurse and was at work and got one of the ultrasound techs to do an ultrasound.  I am app. 6 weeks and 3 days according to my LMP.  We could not see a heart beat today which from what I have read you should see a heart beat at 6 weeks!!  I am pretty sure I am 6 weeks along.  I should have started my period on Feb 15 and got a pos. test on the 12th which was early.  I still have all of my pregnancy symptoms (sore bb's, hungry, peeing all of the time and nose bleeds which I only have when I am pregnant).  Has anyone had similar experiences such as this.  Please let me know, I am getting a little worried!!!!!

I wouldn't be worried. Was it an abdominal u/s or a vaginal one? I was 6wks when I got my first u/s and they couldn't get a heartbeat until they did it vaginally and there it was. The tech said if they didn't see one at 6wks it wouldn't be uncommon and that they would have had me come back a week later and tried again. If you get a vaginal one you should see the heartbeat.

it was an abdominal u/s.  thanks!!!  I also think it wasn't a very high tech u/s machine.
