catheter spasms

Wife has catheter fitted which functions correctly without any apparent infection.
SYMPTOM -
Constant high level sensation of a need to urinate and seeks toilet facility
EXPERIENCE -
Painful bloated feeling in lower abdomen needing constant explanation of catheter function
SITUATION -
Lady has loss of current memory  and though lucid cannot rationalise role of catheter.
Has no independent movement due to advanced hip osteo-arthritis
QUESTIONS -
Is this condition normal, treatable and if so how/with what?

Did your wife have these symptoms before the catheter? How old is she?

I hope that you have some help caring for her. It sounds like the 2 of you have quite bit to deal with.

I wish I could answer your question fo ryou. I will be glad to see if there is any info out there that would be helpful to you. Have you posted in the ask the doctor forums? I know they're tough to get into.

Age = 94
No prior problem to catheter except urination up to  +/- 20 times per 24 hour period
Will process to Doc's Form.
We new 2 this site - still finding way around
