Question for Ryan

Hi Ryan.  Wanted your opinion on some meds I take.  I take klonopin, remeron and toprol.  I am having problems of being overstimulated when I perform high impact cardio.  I feel great while exercising but the next day my anxiety is high.  Can any of these meds be causing this problem or can it just be I am sensitive to stimulating things.  I am sensitive to stimulating meds, foods, and supplements.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi Ryan.  Are you back???  I appreciate your help so much on this board and I don't blame you for wanting to go to med school.  You would be a GREAT Dr. one day.  Wish all drs were as knowledgeable as you are about these meds.  I like my Dr. but he just pretty much lets me make my own decisions about what to do with my meds.  I guess he figures I know my own body and I do alot of research checking side effects on meds before I take them.

If you get a change maybe you can answer my question above.

Thanks again for all your help and good luck in school!!  : )

Thank you Ryan.  I have decided to wean off the remeron.

I have been reading a lot of your posts about klonopin and steady state accumulation.  I take .5 mgs klonopin at about 10 p.m. and .25 mg at about 6 a.m.  While weaning off the remeron, would I be better off taking .25 mgs 3 times a day.  Say 10 p.m., 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.?

Would this help cover any anxiety I may have while weaning off the remeron?  Also, after off the remeron, would it be ok to go back to twice a day or better to stay at 3 times a day.  I take all these meds for MVP/D and anxiety.

If I were to decide at some point to wean off klonopin and if I were taking it 3 times a day would I go down a little each dose.  Then get rid of the afternoon dose, then the morning dose and then the night dose?  Just wondering if doing it that way makes it easier to come off of.

Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks.  I have actually suspected the remeron could be the culprit.  I was given remeron for anxiety but it never helped.  I initially got good sedating effects but don't even have that anymore.

In your opinion, how would I go about weaning off the med?  I have already talked to my dr. about weaning and he prescribed me 15 mgs tabs to be able to make smaller cuts but the plan he gave me is way too fast for me since I an sensitive to med changes.

BTW, I have mitral valve prolapse/dysautonomia and that is why I take the toprol/klonopin.  Could the MVP/D make the hypotension worse and in return give me the symptoms I am experiencing?

Hi Ryan.  After posting I realized I didn't give you med details.  I take .25 klonopin  and 50 mgs. toprol xl in the AM.  I take 30 mgs remeron, .5 mg konopin, and 50 mgs toprol in PM.  The anxiety I feel is more like an adrenaline rush type of anxiety.  Just comes over me for no reason even when I am having a really good day.   I feel the rush, then my skin stings and I just feel anxious the rest of the day.

Thanks for your help.
