Anterior left thigh numb > 24 hours

by craftsmyn, Mar 05, 2008 05:48PM
Hello,

My left anterior thigh has now been numb for almost 3 days.  The numbness sometimes radiates through the left buttock to the lower back.  It isn't painful, per se, but it is certainly most annoying and uncomfortable.  I have full muscle control.  I saw my GP who said it's probably a pinched nerve and should be okay soon.  Well, I don't think numbness is a good thing.  Sitting and driving irritates it.  I've tried stretching, exercising (walking, tae kwon do moves and stretches), muscle relaxers (cyclobenzaprene) - nothing has worked so far.

I found these articles online:

    http://wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/numb_thigh.htm

    http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic590.htm

I thought the diagrams on the second one were most helpful.

So, is this an LCFN issue?  Is there any way to work out the compression?  Do I need massage/physical therapy?

Seriously, this numbness is driving me nuts and it's really uncomfortable.  It feels like my leg is on Novacaine but still has muscle control.

Any suggestions?  All are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.
