Stool in Bright Red Blood

I am a 35 year old female, overweight by almost 100 lbs, prone to high blood pressure but not medicated, and recently started making dietary changes to change my poor eating habits.  I have 2 incisional hernias from a c-section 4 years ago.  This morning when I went to the bathroom my stool was in bright red blood, the same thing happened again this afternoon.  Since I have been watching my diet the past few days, my metabolism has definitely increased.  I do not think I overly strained my rectum.   This happened to me once before a few months ago (was not watching my diet at the time) and lasted less than 48 hours.   Should I be freaking out?  Should I be going to the doctor?

Bright red blood usualy signals bleeding at or near the anus, or in the last part of the colon. This can be hemorrhoids, but it is also worrisome for polyps or cancer. This is not normal. You should get this evaluated without delay.

I would go to the doctor, just to make sure its related to the change in diet.
