Lab tests

by TAKAJ, Mar 06, 2008 07:52PM
I've had recent joint pains off & on for a year, and chronic back pain for at least 10 years but nothing major. Last summer lab values:  CBC all normal, ANA negative, Rheumatoid Factor 4, sed rate 1, CRP 0.10, negative gout, negative all hepatitis.
Joint pains slowly worsening throughout year, but lately most joints don't hurt much since I've taken glucosamine/chondroitin for 3 months.  Biggest change is last 2 weeks, almost excruciating neck pain with very limited range of motion which responds somewhat to cox-2 inhibitor.  Current lab values: ANA negative, Rheumatoid factor 8, sed rate 38, CRP 0.18, and DNA ds-antibody 8 (indeterminate).   Swollen cervical lymph node last summer under CT scan showed normal size, SPEP, beta 2 microglobins normal per oncologist.  Lymph node looks even bigger now (but could be due to severe cold I have).
Going for MRI when my new insurance kicks in next month. Any thoughts on the fact my ANA is negative, but ds-DNA antibody was NOT negative (only indeterminate), and sed rate 38.  Also, any significance that Rheumatoid factor was 4 and now 8?     Thank you for input & thoughts

This story is very much like mine.  I am also unsure about the significance of a negative ANA and indeterminate ds_DNA. Anyone?  In my case I can also had normal SED Rate and RF Factor
