lymph confusion

by kimmurphy, Mar 07, 2008 08:02AM
Hi,
I had a left breast ultrasound..the results indicated that the breast was fine.

However, the report wrote that there were multiple lymph nodes visible in the axilla---

the report said they appeared normal,  and that their presence was probably benign and reactive"

What does it mean when it says "multiple" lymph nodes are present?
Is multiple lymph nodes different than having enlarged or swollen ones, or is it the same?
Does multiple mean that there is an abnormal amount?
i have read that some breast cancers bypass the breast and start in lymph nodes directly.  Could this have any tie to the result?

The Doc. thought that I had shaved and this was an issue.....will the multiple lymph nodes return to normal with time and care?   What should I feel for to ensure that this doesn't go from multiple to something more?

Can you be as detailed as possible?  I can't find info about this on the net..and would rather get one answer from a credible source.

Thanks
kimmurphy
