I've got 8 years of pure hell to verify that its your liver. It wasn't until I straightened out my lower back and hips that my continual abdominal pain, fatique, & other health issues began to subside . . . and that after I noticed my liver "dumping" after demcompression theorapy (on lower back and hips). I started passing liver stones, and flushed out another 60 of them with additional liver flush treatments. Liver stones are gall stones that congest the liver, made up of old bile, bacteria, toxins, and sometimes parasites. They congest the liver diminishing its detox abilities resulting in reduced health. I'm not sure if the liver weakens the back or the tweeked back weakens the liver. Regardless, they are connected in some manner. Get the liver stones out or they will collect in the gall bladder (gall stones) possibly leading to gall bladder removal, not to mention issues with Candida, H-Pylori, digestion issues, low energy, etc.
I recommend "googling" the phrase "congested liver" and/or "sluggish liver." There are some good web-sites out there with good testimonials and good treatments/suggestions.
Bottom line . . . . once I seriously focussed on the lower back and hips, the connection to my endless upper abdominal pain (which was liver pain) became quite clear. I use the "True Back" and a "Tetter Hang-Up Inversion Table" to decompress my back and hips.
Hope this helps anyone who's experienced my world.

sounds like gallbladder .. get a scan it will show whats wrong..
Why are you certain that it's your liver? It seems to me that if you did anything strenuous enough to mess up your back that badly that chances are very good that you pulled muscles in your ribs and that's what is hurting you. A torn muscle or even a pulled muscle can cause excruciating pain, and it's not something that will go away in a few days time depending on how badly you pulled or tore it. A pulled muscle would produce an unremarkable x-ray, but by the same token, if there were something that radically wrong with your liver that it was causing you this much pain, an abdominal ultrasound might have turned something up. Did your doctor do bloodwork? If so, what were your liver values?
