i was diagnosed with trichomoniais

I was having itching and discharge for a bout a month before i saw a gyn for the first time in my life. About a week and a half before the symptoms started i had a sexual encounter with an old fling. I kept warning him to use the condoms, but he was having a little trouble staying erect so he kept trying to go in with out it. When i finally went to the doctor i took a pap smear and the doctor told me i had a yeast infection. He prescribed medication so i thought i was fine. About a week later i recieved a letter from my gyn stating that a had trich. I made an appointment and the doctor prescribed medication again. It seem to be the same thing i was taking for the yeast infection but the dosage was different. I had to take a single dose of 4 tablets and the other 4 are for my partner. I took the medicine about 2 days ago and the symptoms are not changing. How long should it take the symptoms to clear up after treatment?

You shouldn't have the same meds for trich as you would for yeast. Trich is a protazoa, and yeast is a fungus.

It would depend on how long they've been together, has she ever tested before, was she having symptoms, etc.
There are reports of people getting trich at the gym, in a hot tub (though I think that would have to be sitting in a little puddle of water on the side or something), etc., but those haven't ever been really backed up scientifically.
