Prozac and Buspar Injteractions

by scweb786, Mar 08, 2008 01:54PM
Apparently Buspar does not work for a large percentage of people;  however, I am one of them.  The manufacturer's literature shows it has been safely used up to 450mg per day, though the normal dosage is 60mg per day.  I took 90 mg and would eat extra grapefruits to make the level in my system higher.  None of this without any bad effects.

Then my new psychiatrist put me on Prozac and I immediately had very strong negative reaction to even taking 70mg of Buspar and eating a whole grapefruit also produced the same negative reaction.  Since it only happened twice it is hard to describe the negative reaction fully. but it was like a feeling of overdosing and having difficulty breathing and becoming totally exhausted.

I would like to know if anyone else has had this reaction and if they know what is causing it, because if the Prozac is making the Buspar stronger, then I'll have to start skipping 5mg every so ofter; which is what I am doing now.
