headache, nausea, numbness

by kkrylee, Mar 09, 2008 11:23AM
16 yr old with constant headache pressure at base of skull and neck for 5 mos.  Also nausea, dizziness, numbness, orthostatic hypotension, Babinski response, transient vision loss.

All tests (MRI & MRA of brain & cervical, blood test, lyme, heavy metals, ANA, heart, etc) normal.  Neurological exam: babinski response on right foot, less sensation on rt side of body.  Very low blood pressure.

Question:  if other tests all fine, is Babinski response (done by neurologist) okay to have?  Neurologist said that if other tests were fine Babinski response not really an issue.

My daughter had experienced migraine, all left side pain and then numb, blur vision, dizziness for about 8 yrs and no doctors could give an explanation for it and pretty much did nothing for her. The symptoms became worse and more frequent over time. After the last migraine sent her to the er for morphine I had enough. I went to a wellness clinic and they did the full back xrays I had been asking for and found out her back was lower on oneside then the other. She also had leaking gut syndrome at age 18. Allergy test were done and she has several food allergies the worst being all yeast. She is now eating the right foods and going for physical therapy and chiroprator treatment(not cracking the back but new proadjuster machine,GREAT MACHINE) and she has had no migrianes or left pain/numbness and all other symptoms gone. Least to say keep changing doctors until you find one that really searches for the answers for the symtoms.

Thank you so much for your response.  I have been considering a lower spine problem but could not see how that would affect the head issues (Neuro).  But no one has done an MRI on her spine. MRI & MRA was done on her head and cervical.  I have asked her current doctor about this and I awaiting an answer from him.  Also, we now realize that she has been having absence seizures approx 1 every 3-4 weeks for the last 6 months.  Her head pressure at the base of her skull has never gone away, at all, during the last 6 months and her transient blindness (15-20 x's day lasting less than a minute) has been steady daily for almost 4 years.  But Opthamologist and Neuro's do not see any issue with her eyes to cause this.  Also, at her last Neuro exam, her toes did not move at all, unlike her previous exam 2 mos ago where the right foot showed positive babinski (big toe went up and toes fanned).  We still have no answers except that she has Orthostatic Hypotension.  She will be 17 in June.

Again,

Thanks.
