Temporary crown and tooth broke 3 days before crown placement

by BC74SJ, Mar 09, 2008 01:16PM
I had a root canal done 20 years ago and have not been seeing dentists regularly. I went in for a checkup and have had 4 fillings, left and right side scaling, and a crown prep performed. 3 days before I was due to get my crown placed I broke 1/3 of my remaining tooth / prep off. Will this mean I have to get a new crown made? Am I liable for this? The bite didn't feel even (actually none of my fillings have made me feel very good. I have spent over $3000 in the past 2 months and am not very happy with my care at this point.
The tooth is the top right molar 2nd to last. It has broken on the inside top front middle to about 60% to the back on left side.

From your description I would think that you would need a build up and new impression for a new crown. I do not think you would be liable for the new crown, but you might be responsible for the build up or post if that needed to be done.
