cerebral palsy

by netts58, Mar 11, 2008 07:28PM
my 16 yr old daughter has mild cerepalsy that effects only her left side...very mildly, only a slight foot drop & some leg turning.  My concern is that she has severe vision problems, with nystagmus as well, having to turn her head to the left to focus, along with a lazy eye on the left.  She wears eye glasses that assist her good eye.  Are there any surgeries that are available that deal with some of these issues that are proposed directly for cerebral palsy patients??

I would suggest you take her to an eye specialist.  If there is nothing physically wrong with her eyes, it could possibly be cortical visual impairment.  The part of the brain that controls how and what we see.  I heard somewhere that people with cortical visuale impairments find it so difficult to see sometimes it is the same as us normal individuals walking a tight rope and trying to knit at the same time.  Start with an eye specialist.
