appearance after lumpectomy

by Woolly692, Mar 12, 2008 01:24AM
I had a lumpectomy.  I do not know what the doctor did but I had an 8 mm and a 2 mm echogenic lesion in the upper outer quadrant of my left breast.  I now have an incision scar that is about 4 inches long and extending under my arm with shooting pains to my back.  My nipple is burning even though they didn't cut there and it appears red and excoriated.  It feels like a baseball under my left arm.  I also had a bunch of blisters pop up and pop on their own in the center of my chest, maybe a dozen that came and went.  I also had a very large amount of bruising and this breast is still 1-3/4 the size of the other breast now. I get the results tomorrow.

Hi.
Just want to clarify some points.  Did the breast and nipple changes appear after you had a lumpectomy?  Did your doctor remove both the 8mm and 2mm lesions?
There is a possibility of breast asymmetry after a lumpectomy, especially when huge amounts of the lump with its surrounding normal tissues are removed.  Also, there is a possibility that the wound got infected to cause mastitis (inflammation of the breast).
It would be best to go back to your doctor for further evaluation.
Please do post your updates.
Good luck.
