taxotere and double vision

by lildeer, Mar 12, 2008 01:15PM
I have double vision from a 6th cranial nerve palsy ever since I started Taxotere 2 months ago. My oncologist says this is not a common side effect and doesn't know if it ever will completely resolve.  I have completed 4 cycles of Taxotere and Xeloda (out of 6) and had a recent normal brain MRI to check for mets.  Does anyone have experience with this side effect and if so, did it resolve after chemo?

Dear lildeer:  Although peripheral neuropathy is a common side effect of taxotere, cranial nerve palsies have not been a side effect that is documented in the literature.  Although it is possible that this palsy is due to taxotere, it is also possible that the palsy is a timing coincidence and may have other explanations.  It may be worth a consultation with a neurologist to look at the problem from a neurological perspective.
