My partner has been diagnosed with heomochromatosis his heomoglobin was down and the Dr drained blood anyway. Would that cause penis to swell triple its size and is totally bruised ( black & BLUE) we watched the colour & swelling change over a period of an hr after sexual intercourse and we wernt being rough . As his sex drive was low before since diagnosed and they take blood now his done a complete turn around.Worried as have never SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS BEFORE.Lee

Hi,

If this has been present for a long time already, this may not be something of urgent concern. During sexual activity and during erection, penile vessels become prominent secondary to dilation and increased blood flow. This may make the superficial vessels appear more prominent.

I suggest that you have this evaluated by a urologist.A blood clot may not be likely if the condition resolves spontaneously.Venous congestion may cause the pain.

no no problems at all during sex..no problems with eretion, no pain. no pain during urination,..just pain from the excessive blood in the vien around the head..not all the way around either...just around the top

Hi,

This may be due to minor trauma during sexual activity. As this has been noted for a long time, this may not be something that sounds urgent.

However, an initial consult by your urologist or your primary physician will be able to help.A penile ultrasound may check for any injuries that may involve the penile vessels.

Just refrain from vigorously manipulating the area.

Are there any problems with sexual response like pain or deformity in erection?

Any changes in urinary pattern?

Do keep us posted.
