Is this leaking into my body??

by bellaboo56, Mar 14, 2008 05:09PM
Okay, I had silicone breast implants put in a couple of years ago.  In the last weeks I have been having some very odd symptoms - I feel like I'm drugged, vision is blurry, middle part of back aches, headaches, joint ache and extreme fatigue.  If they were leaking, could this cause my symptoms?

These symptoms sound like what has been termed "chronic fatigue syndrome."  While the old silicone gel implants (those made over 15 years ago) have been implicated in this condition, there is no good scientific evidence that this is the case.  Evidence of a leaking gel implant can only be made with an MRI exam of your breast or confirmed at the time of exploration and implant removal.  There is no assurance that removal of removal of your implants (whether leaking or not) will improve your symptoms.  I would suggest seeing your primary physician for a full evaluation.
