Very Worried

by Sal_08, Mar 15, 2008 06:27PM
Hi all.. I have been reading the posts in regard to the flashing spots and am SOOO relieved to know I am not alone.  I started getting these for the first time 3 years ago.  My Opthamologist/Retina Specialist keeps telling me my eyes are pretty healthy.  Considering I have been diabetic for 26 years he says my eyes are look really good.   I have VERY EARLY background retinopathy.  Minimal enough that I need only be seen once per year.  I have been told that the retinopathy is not causing my spots.  They see nothing in the back of my eye that would cause this.  I went last week for a second opinion and had the die injected and the blood flow to my eyes is normal as well.  My optic nerve is healthy, my macula is fine, no edema.  My spots are in my periph. as well as somewhat in the central area of vision.  He is sending me to see a Neuro-Opthamologist next week  for further tests although he said he believes all will be normal.  I see 20 / 15, but my spots never go away so I am so scared.  Since the eye works binocularly, I understand one eye compensates for the other.  My question is can they overlap?  If so, does this causes blindness?

To: Oval spots in vision
Hello..I have searched and searched but could not find anywhere on the forum if anyone has received a diagnosis for the oval blinking spots in vision that eventually turn to gray.  Does anyone know if they can overlap and cause blindness when occuring in both eyes?

It does not cause blindness. Return to the neuro-ophthalmolgist to monitor your condition.
