When I was around 13, I stared havng migaine headaches which caused visual problems etc. I went to the er because my family thought I had a stroke. During the first headache, i experienced derealization but it went away when the headach did. I continued to have headaches and around 15 I got agorophobia because I was worried I would faint or something away from home. I was homebound for a while. I got anxiety problems during this time and depression, but my first problem after the headaches started was derealization, I felt like I was living in a dream. I have fought with anxiety depression migrains and most annoying derealization for 20 years. I have had a battery of test done when I was younger and all showed ok. I am gong through a tough time beacuse of the derealization and thinkderealzation will never go away. I have a hard time driving and being or doing
anything that takes a lot of concentration. I have an important job that I have had for 7 years but the derealization is affectng all my life. Many medicines later and it does seem to get a little better, but never has gone away. I have never done any sort of illegal drugs, and am now on 20mg paxil and 1..5mg klonopin . I have taken the klonopin for probably 15 years, I did decrease dosages from 3mg about 4 -5 years ago. Nothing sems to change this derealization.

The one thing he did not mention was psychotherapy.  Think of it this way.  One part of your mind is not talking to the other part of your mind.  Medications don't solve this problem.  You have to learn to talk to yourself within yourself and psychotherapy is the best way for you to learn that.
