Subuxone Abuse? Can't do it!

by Dpilot, Feb 19, 2007 12:00AM
Well I started my day normal today, Got up took morning dose of subuxone played with dogs etc. Step son called and wanted me to fix his car, so about 1:00 he walkes over and I get ready to leave. Believing we would be gone for quite some time I took my Subuxone early before we left. We got back around 3:00, the time I normally take my afternoon dose. Forgetting I had already taken it I took another one. I felt like absolute **** untill just about an hour ago. Not Guilty, just real mentally agitated and physically like ****. Now I'm really impressed with the drug. It works great if taken like you are supposed to, but if I were to try and abuse I know now I couldn't do it. God I felt bad. Subutex didn't do that to me when I took 5 a day while detoxing. I guess it's the opoiate antagonist in Subuxone that made me feel so bad. At least I don't have to wonder about "what if I start to abuse it" cause now I know I couldn't if I wanted to. I take the 8mg/2mg Subuxone. Tomorrow I'm going to take 1/2 of one twice a day instead of taking a hole twice a day. Maybe I'll Be down to 1/2 a day by next Monday and Can stay on that till I run out of the 60 I was perscribed. Only taking them now for the opiate antagonist, as an insurance policy that I can't run over to the dealers house later in the day if I start hurting cause I know that anything I buy will not work and send me into withdrawl type symptoms. This honestly was a mistake on my part"taking too many" just thought I'd let you guys know what happens when you do.

I totally agree with you... I did the same thing one time by taking my dose after I had already taken it...  Funny thing is that I also felt really agitated and almost like it put me into withdrawl... But I guess like you said at least we know we can't abuse it like we did the pills :-)

Good morning Dpilot,

I am glad I was given the other one in detox I had subutex and I manipulated the nurse to double up here and there she didnt care.
I have never taken Subuxone with the oppiate blocker.
Your used to taking pills to feel better don't beat yourself up.
You know a lot of the words but you don't know all the music. No offense, keep plugging away and you will get there. D, it feels good to be sober it really does.
One of the greatest thing of being sober off a zillion pills as a man is your equipment comes back to life..lol

Sidney, always take Suboxone under a physician's care. It is a program and should be followed for optimum results. You can find a doctor that prescribes on the Suboxone website. GL.
