vaginal irritation

I'm 42 yo married, monogamous for 18 years.4 children.no hs of any gyn issues. had my first yeast infeciton 2005 when pg with my 5th, ended in m/c.tx successfully w/Diflucan, 1 pill q 3days for a total of 3 pills.
Nov 2007 had another yeast infection-tx the same way. from that one on, I went on to have a yeast infection every other month for a total of 3 in 6 cycles. Each time the infection started on day 17 of my cycle, which is about 2-3 days after I ovulate. I had my last one last month.
I am on day 4 of my cycle, and I am starting to feel "irritated" . not itching, just irritated. There is no discarge, no odor, no bleeding.
Had intercourse 2 days ago, and did not experience any pain. there is nothing different, no change in condoms, no change in soaps, and I am not on BCP's.

I went to my gyn last week and she did cultures for BV and yeast, but did not think it was any of them. SHe said everything looked normal. I had a normla pap in Feb, and have never had an abnormal one.

Is there anything that you can think of?
I'm at my wits end with this...

SHe wants me to come in on Day 15 of my cycle, which is next monday, for a culture to see if it truly is yeast that is happening.
But now, I'm concerned because I am feeling something that is not right today.

Any thoughts?
I'm not freaked out about it, I just want to know what it is.
If it's yeast again, what should I do?
If it's not yeast, what else could it be?
Could it just be normal aging? It's not dry, and does not look red or swolledn from what I can see.

I would be so grateful for any thoughts on this.
Thanks.

Don't be freaked out your doctor is doing a great workup.  Some women indeed do tend to have yeast recurrences at certain times during their cycles.  When this is the case, it is sometimes helpful to medicate briefly at the time they tend to occur as a preventative measure.

In addition, as you mention, with aging, there are numerous hormonal changes which occur in the female genital tract.  The lining of the vagina tends to thin a bit and there are changes in the type and number of microorganisms which are normally present in the vagina,  this may also be contributing.

Hope this is helpful.  EWH
