48 hours after sex still bleeding? Normal???

by loopycat, Mar 17, 2008 01:18PM
I recently had intercourse (Saturday morning).  It had been my first after near 5 years of abstinence.   At the time, my period had been over for about a week.  Lastly, the gentleman was very large.  I did expect to bleed, considering how long it had been and his size, however, I didn't expect the amount.  Lots of bright red blood with clots.  It is now Monday and I am still bleeding.  I am in no pain at all.  The bleeding has slowed some, but, it's still there whenever I go to the bathroom.  I have to wear a panty liner because it has spotted between bathroom visits.   Should I be worried and visit a dr.  or is this just a result of the circumstances listed above?  I am 35, never had any children.

Please advise!!

Hello,

Yes, a visit to a physician would be wise.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
